Tuakana Teina: Levi and I Working Together

Today is Tuakana Teina day with Room 4. This means coming together and working with another student from another class. The buddy I am working with is Levi. He thinks that netbooks are helpful and cool. He thinks this because after we finish our work we can play games. Also we can finish our work faster and get it done to a high standard!

Caprice - Term 2 Week 8 Homework: Reading

Reading:
Read a book for 15 minutes and reflect below:
Title: The Wondrous Journals Of Dr. Wendell Wellington Wiggins.
Author: Lesley M.M. Blume
Illustrator: David Foote
What is this book about?
I am seeking out the remains of the world’s most ancient creatures, to learn their ways and their fates. In doing so, I hope to learn more about ourselves - and what our own future might look like. And if this fact-finding mission takes up my entire life, I shall consider it a life well lived.

Audit Information Project Report!

THIS IS RENEE, MAVIS, SALOME AND MY REPORT ON WHAT WE DID ON FRIDAY THE 21 OF JUNE. WE HAD TO SORT RUBBISH AND GET OUR GLOVES ALL DIRTY. IT WAS FUNNY BUT AT THE SAME TIME SMELLY. READ ON AND BE SURE TO STOP BY AND LEAVE ME SOME ULTRA HELPFUL COMMENTS INCLUDING FF AND FB ABOUT MY WORK.

On Friday the 21st of June, a group of year 1-8 students were nominated to participate in  sorting out all of the rubbish we produced in our school over 24 hours. From Room 7 four girls represented their class. Their names are Caprice, Renee, Salome and Mavis and did they do their classroom proud!! Ron, who works at the Auckland city council was our tutor and explained to us about the rubbish we produce in our school. He also explained to us the different categories of rubbish and how we can reduce the amount of rubbish in our school.

Multiple times we had to discuss the categories in which the rubbish that was collected, where it would be sorted into. Individual students were chosen as leaders of their own crate(recycling bin). They put their given categories onto a crate. We then weighed the rubbish. After it was weighed, we sorted the rubbish into different crates. The pieces of rubbish were sorted into Non-recyclable paper, Food Scraps, Plastic wrappers, Steel and aluminium cans, Paper and Recyclable Plastic.

Most of the student in the seniors were group leaders, like Salome she was the group leader for the aluminum cans. Renee was the leader for the all other waste, and the people in Caprice group were they assisted me in  sorting the rubbish, and the weight of the waste was 0.6

When we finished the sorting of the categories others were then organised into small groups to help the leader of the group find and sort their rubbish that they were instructed to find. Groups were then give buckets to help collect the rubbish, the rubbish was then poured onto a tarpaulin and classes came to observe us as we collected and sort the different waste.

The amount of plastic wrappers blew up in our faces. Nearly over 270 pieces of chip, muesli and snack wrappers were scattered all over our tarpaulin and in the crate. Hevani and Paeroa collected a lot of these wrappers and within minutes the back was halfway full. The food scraps had an huge amount which continued to grow when we finished collecting it we had to carry it all the way to the scale but it resulted in being too heavy for one person to carry it ,so Marshal and Taylor carried it to the scale to get weighed.

The food scraps weighed 18.0kg due to the weight of the food scraps inside the bag and the crate altogether. After we sorted the rubbish we weighed the different categories of rubbish that we collected. The heaviest was the food scraps which weighed 18.0kg and the most found was food wrapper.

After we weighed all the sacks of rubbish from the crate our instructor calculated the rubbish that we weighed to see how much rubbish is thrown on the ground or wasted in the bin. It turns out that our school is producing more rubbish than other schools.

Maths:
Get your family to ask you some sums and answer them with your stratergy!

Dupri - 1+1=2
- Because if you add one on one you get two!

Cavhyon - 282+282=564
- I took away the 82 from both the 200 and doubled the 200. That equals 400. Then I doubled the 82 and the equaled 164. All together it equals 564.

Mum - 404+404=808
- Because if you picture the 4 as a zero then you get 800. All you have to do is double the four and you get 808.

Rex - Caprice had 800 puppies. Daimai gave her 140 more. Then she gave Johnny 140. Renee came and asked Caprice for 160 puppies. She gave her 160 puupies and how much did she have left?

This is my presentation about the Rubbish In Our School!  It has some information about rubbish and how to solve the rubbish in our school! Be sure to leave me some positive comments including FF and FB about my work for next time!!!!!

Caprice - Persuasive Text - Should We Be CyberSmart? Why?

`

Should We be Cyber Smart?
Yes! I think that everyone should be CyberSmart because of the harm it does to peoples lives and because of the relationships it rips apart.

As clear as it is, living with a crises in you head and going to school daily being laughed at  is wrong. Would you like that to happen to you? If you don't want to get hurt online, then why do you do it to others? If you want to hurt someone online then why don't you say it to their face? Is it because you're scared? Is it because they might do it back?

Cyber bullying can hurt others by ruining their lives. They could even end up comitting suyacide to themselves. Then who is to blame for that? If you hate somone, why not tell them face to face instead of doing it online. Being CyberSmart is all about using the SUITABLE, CORRECT language when you are online. If you want to critise someone and you don't want it to come back around. That saying 'What Goes Around Comes Back Around' is related to this crises in hell.

Some people can just try to laugh it off. But, as it goes on and on until one time, they've had enough of it. They want it rid of and they can get rid of it. But, that's if they welcome the police into the situation. If you can realise the harm that is caused by CyberBullying, then you must'nt know what it feels like. It feels like damage and revenge on someone who didn't do anyting wrong. It feels like hatretage and death. It ruins families lives and ruins friends lives as well.

As CyberBullying goes on, people die. Some people might even consider welcoming the police into it. If you don't want any of these things you have just read happen to you, then you have to realise that CyberBullying is wrong and that it needs to stop. Remember what goes around comes back around. So leave it at a certain place where everything is alright and happy. CyberBullying is wrong and can harm lives in a real bad way. If you are that sort of person who harms lives, then you better watch out!

THIS IS MY PERSUASIVE TEXT I DID ON SHOULD WE BE CYBER SMART. SHOULD WE? IF WE SHOULD AND YOU AGREE, THEN COMMENT INCLUDING FF AND FB!

Caprice - We are responsible for the rubbish in our school.

We are responsible for the rubbish in our school.
Yes! We agree! We are responsible for the rubbish we produce. We think that the rubbish in our school is just dust. We think that it is nearly passed dawn and each day it gets higher and higher. The cause of this affects our reputation. It can ruin our reputation. We could get less students coming to our school daily. We could even suppose closing down.

Are you a litter bug? Would you want to live in a world of Wall . E?
This affects us because the more we litter, the more money is paid to remove our rubbish. We are on a mission to stop littering and this is a start to having a Clean and Green property and environment.

Have you realised that the rubbish we produce can harm younger ones and animals? This is because we can’t be bothered to walk over to a bin and put our rubbish in it. We also have come up with a rhyme, ‘Stop Littering! Start Cleaning’. Littering is just laziness. Laziness is when you can’t be bothered to do anything. Another thing is that if we increase the amount of rubbish in our school. We could get less visits from rats and mice. Bugs and others.

Did you know that animals are dying daily because of the rubbish we produce? If you throw your rubbish in a drain then you will know what I’m talking about and also did you know that 40% of the food we waste goes to the landfill. 15% of the organic we waste also goes to the landfill. This fills up all of our landfill and we have to rely on Hamilton to take our rubbish. Our landfill gets filled everyday that we pay Hamilton to take our rubbish. We can’t have that anymore.

It clearly shows that 50% of Auckland uses their waste effectively and the other 50% doesn’t. That is why we are on the mission to stop littering in our school. This is why we are on a mission to ‘Stop Littering, Start Cleaning’. This is not being lazy and never littering. If we can cut down the amount of rubbish in our school. Then yippe! But if you can’t. Then boo! So let’s stop littering and start cleaning!!!

This is Kereama and my persuasive text about 'We Are Responsible For The Rubbish At Our School'. We took time and came up with five paragraphs of information about why we are responsible for the rubbish that is produced at our school. Be sure to leave us some comments and include FF and FB for my next piece of writing!

Caprice - Term 2 Writing Test:)

The Forbidden Valley
Far away in the depths of the sun there lived a young boy named Jordan. He and his best friend Hannah were playing in the yard when they found out that there was a valley that nobody went into because it was ‘The FORBIDDEN Valley.
“Wow! Let’s go check it out!” Hannah smiled
“Why?” Jordan stated.
“Are you scared? Huh? Huh? Yes you are! I know you are. Scaredy cat, scaredy cat.”  Hannah laughed.
“I’m not scared,” Jordan said. “I just don’t want to.”
“Scaredy cat, scaredy cat!” Hannah yelled out.
“Am not!”
“Am so!”
“Am not!”
“Am so!”
“Come on then, let’s go. Since you’re up for the challenge, I am too!” Jordan finally said what Hannah wanted to here. As they walked towards the valley, it began to get dark. All of a sudden, it had been a half and hour walk.
“It’s almost dark. Should we turn around and go back home Jordan?” Hannah asked.
“NO! You wanted to come and we will go there, then we can go home! Okay?”
“Okay.” Sighed Hannah. Their legs felt wobbly and the leaves rustled variously. Over and over again. The wind was swishing and swoshing around. Whispering into Jordan’s ear. Telling him to stop and turn around.
“Stop it!” Yelled Jordan
“Stop what?” Hannah asked.
“Oh, don’t act so innocent Hannah. I know you’re trying to tell me to turn aroun...” Jordan stopped.
“G. G. Jordan? Are you okay?” Hannah asked with fright.
“We need to hurry up and get to the valley as soon as possible!” Jordan ran and yelled.
“Wait for me!” Hannah replied.

When they got to ‘The Forbidden Valley’. Hannah said “What’s so scary about this place?”
“AAAHH!!” Hannah yelled.
“What’s wrong Hannah? Tell me. Now tell me!” Jordan asked.
“I heard scratching but couldn’t see through the darkness.” Hannah replied.
“It must of been some leaves or something.” They walked as the legs shook with fear and goosebumps created a chill of shockness and fright down their backs. Their faces were so frighten they couldn’t look.
“Stay close together,” Jordan said. “If we want to get out of here safe, then we have to stick close together.”
“Okay! I really think so!” A dust of mud fell from the sky and landed all over them.
Jordan and Hannah coughed over and over again.
“I think that some of this stuff got into my mouth.” Hannah stated.
“Mine too!” Jordan agreed. They had to keep moving and get on. Then they saw something running around them.
“AH Jordan I’m scared!” Hannah said hugging him tightly.
“Me too!” Jordan replied hugging her back.

They ran out towards the exit and heard scratching getting louder and louder! The louder it got, the faster they ran. The downer it got, the slower they ran.
“I think it’s gone,” Jordan sighed. “You can get off me now!”
“Oh yeah. Sorry about that. I guess I got so scared that it made me do it!”
“What am I going to do? What am I going to tell my mum?” Jordan asked.
“Just tell her you were over mine for dinner.” Hannah suggested.
“What if she rings your mum and asks if I was?”
“Stop worrying. It’ll be fine.” Hannah smiled.
As they left ‘The Forbidden Valley’. They saw two black and white cats.
“Mittens? Splash? Is that you?”
“Meow. Meow. Meow!”
“Mittens! What are you doing here and look at the state of you both. You and Splash. Wait, you and Splash were scratching? But how? Ah? That’s where my microphone got to!”
“Meow. Meow, Meow. Meow. Meow.”
“Okay, okay! I forgive you. The both of you! Now let’s get you two home before mum begins to worry about us huh?”
“Meow.” All four of them walked back to Hannah’s, had tea and went to bed.”
But if it wasn’t for Jordan, Hannah would've fainted by the time she got to ‘The Forbidden Valley’.

But then Nathan Weiss, a kid obsessed with UFO’s and my mysterious codes get involved. And things get really weird.

Writing - Homework Task Two:

WRITING:
Write a persuasive argument about why cigarettes should be banned.

I think that cigarettes SHOULD be banned!!

I think this because smoking can cause a
BIG INFLUENCE TOWARDS YOUNGER ONES.
They ARE GOING TO ban cigarettes.

Well, another reason is that SMOKING can KILL younger ones if they start smoking. Then who’s fault is that?

You SHOULD ban smoking because it wastes money and the more money you waste, the less time you spend with your family.

Stop smoking and think about others not just yourselves before you put a cigarette in your mouth because remember it could harm and kill younger generations.

The Flying Magic Carpet

The Flying Magic Carpet

Past the moon and in the sun, there was a magic carpet sitting on the hard wooden floor. “What can it do? What can it say? Does it work? Would it complain?” Jordan questioned dad.
“I don’t know but we have to find out. Remember it’s just a silly old carpet.” Dad replied.
But there was one thing they didn’t know. This silly old carpet was a magic carpet. Who had feelings for another carpet who lived in Jordans bedroom.
“I need to get to her! I need to get to her!!” The magic carpet groaned as he tried to move closer and closer. Each time he’d move, dad would pick him up and take him back to the centre of the living room.
“Jordan! Jordan,” dad shouted “Let’s go, we need to pick mum and Lilly up from the airport!” He yelled once again!

As they got in the car, the magic carpet then realised that he shouldn’t be here. That he doesn’t belong here!!! The magic carpet trying to read the tag on him, but couldn’t really see what was going on.
He yelled out “My love, I shall go! I must go! I don’t belong here!!!”
Missy(the carpet in Jordans room) yelled out “But what shall I do? Where shall I go? I need you and you need me too!”
“I’m very, very sorry Missy. But I need to go! I truly am sorry!” He answered back. Far away in the depth of the ocean, Missy looked out the window and saw him, travelling through the night sky. All alone and by himself.
Missy sighed “I wish I could of went with him.” The magic flying carpet stopped like a bomb been thrown onto him. He looked up to the moon. Missy was also looking up at the moon.
“Where am I? Missy help me. Please!” He muttered.
“I am with you! I will always be with you!!!” Missy shouted!

Far beyond the air point, the magic carpet then called himself Honda. Honda searched high and low for somewhere to go. He wished that Missy was here with him. Encouraging him and showing complete enthusiastic. Although he had a fantastic adventure, he was ready to go home.
“I must go back!” Honda said in his head.
“No I won’t. Wait I will go back! At least for Missy’s sake and I love her.” Honda said aloud. As he travelled his way back the way he came. He got lost.
“Where am I?” Honda asked himself. “I knew she was right.”
He saw a light. He saw a house! “There!!! There!!! I’m home. Missy?” Honda shouted with fill gratefulness. Honda saw her face as she looked out the window. It was hanging down. All of a sudden, Missy heard Honda say “Missy! I am here! I came back for you!!”
“You, you came back for me! You came back for me!” Missy said as her face lit up!
“Yes my love! Yes! I did! I did!” Honda shouted. He flew towards her like a lightning bolt. Honda was so, so happy to see her beautiful face once again!!!
“My name is now Honda!” Honda stated straight away.
“Honda. What are lovely name. Honda the supercar! My hero!” Missy said.
“I don’t want to go that far just yet. Laughed Honda.
“ You know, I wouldn’t mind being a human. To see how they live their lives comapred to ours.” Missy stated.
“Well, how about it?”
“How about what Honda?”
“Let’s go for it! Let’s have an adventure and get married. Let’s be a happy married couple for the rest of our carpet lives.”
“I do and amen to that!!”
“Zippity zie, zippity zoo. We want to be humans just like you!”
Boom a clash of smoke happened to form their bodies. Missy was as beautiful as a rose blooming in the sunlight’s warmth and Honda looked as handsome as ever could be. The both of them ran out the door, towards the marriage chapel.
“Ready?”
“Yes my dear. Of course I am!” They opened the big doors and ran to the counter and said “We want to get married. Now!”
The accountant replied. “Just sign these papers and you’re officially married. But do you want to celebrate with a wedding or just a keep it down low one?”
“We want a keep it a down low one please!”

“Well Mr and Mrs Greenwood, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” They both ran off into the sunlight of happiness and forgiveness and they never forgot that moment. Not even when they both passed away!

Title: The Worry Website

What is this book about?
This book is about a school who has a site name The Worry Website. On the Worry Website, you can write your worries then you'll have answers to them. E.g. I keep on having nightmares about a monster crushing and clashing me together. Now that is a thing to go on The Worry Website.

Who are the characters in this book? List them below:
-Claire
-Natasha
-Lisa
-Mr Speed
-William
-Samantha
-Holly
-Greg

Who is the author?
Jacqueline Wilson

Who is the illustrator?
Nick Sharratt

When was this book first published?
This book was published in 2002.

What genre is this book? Why?
This book is a fiction. This is because it has information that isn't real!

How would you feel if you read this book concidering reading about you?
Well, if it was good and nothing bad had happened. Then I would feel over the moon. That I am in this book! BUT if I felt like I was a loser and didn't like what I was seeing. Then I would feel like an even more loser!

If you were to become a author and you had the chance to pick an famous author to write a book with. Who would you pick? Why would you pick this specific person?
I figured that I would pick Joy Cowley because when she writes books, she doesn't leave it as easy for people to find out the answer to the moral. Or to even find out what the moral is! She makes sure that they can find out the moral by themselves. But also makes it easier for them to understand!

Would you ever dream of becoming an author? Why?
Maybe. Because at once I can only handle one subject on my hands if I even make it towards what I really want to be in life: An Forensics.
